The Sunday Leader has learned that General Sarath Fonseka has resigned his post as Chief of Defense Staff, paving the way for a potential presidential candidacy. This morning, he submitted to President Mahinda Rajapaksa a three-page letter outlining the reasons for his resignation. The President has not made a decision on whether to accept the resignation.
