According to civic body sources, the Corporation under the new proposal has planned to improve bus route roads (BRR) at an estimated cost of Rs. 52 crores, while the city’s interior roads would be re-laid using another Rs. 60 crores.Tenders for both the works are being finalised and re-laying works at interior roads would be kick-started in a week’s time, sources told Express.Due to intermittent rains for the past few months, most of the bus routes and interior roads (or parts of them) maintained by the civic body were in a bad shape and motorists complained about it to the Corporation. While the BRR works were divided into three packages to facilitate speedy re-laying works, the Rs 62-crore work for interior roads have been pieced into 17 packages, which would help the civic body to complete it in a stipulated time. With the northeast monsoon expected only at the end of October, road re-laying works are likely to be paced up for a month (from next week) before a short break during the rainy days.Civic body sources said they have ample time till February next year to complete these works.
