Misuse of Government properties by the Principal of MGGC

TV, Fridge and water cooler go missing, found at Principal's quarter.

Port Blair, Apr 16: Misuse of Government properties by the Principal of Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College is reported from Karmatang, Mayabunder in North Andaman. The students of MGGC informed that the Government properties meant for the students are allegedly being used by the Principal himself instead of providing the facilities to the students. It is alleged that the Principal of MGGC, Dr. A.R.P.Sinha installed most of the equipment and appliances like the refrigerator/water cooler, aqua-guard, TV, even some of the furniture in his own residence (Govt. Quarter) taking from the hostels and college buildings, depriving the students and hostel inmates.

According to the students, the Principal is not concerned about the problems of the students and staffs of the college instead he tries his level best to cause inconveniences to both the students and the staffs including the teaching and non teaching staffs by imposing self made rules, regulations and restrictions.

There is already shortage of cot in the hostels and instead of providing more cots in the hostels he has taken some of the cots for his own use in his residence; students have been craving for pure and chilled drinking water in the peak summer as well as examination season whereas the Principal uninstall the refrigerator or water cooler and the aqua guard from the hostel and installed it in his residence. Altogether, it may be concluded that he has been utilizing all the facilities of the students depriving them and satisfying his own comfort and lust.

During the tenure of the previous Principal Dr. R.N.Rath internet facility was made available for all the students for aiding and enhancing their teaching learning process. The cut-off and remote location of the college was connected with rest of the world through internet facility but the golden days are gone. Now internet facility is there in the college but only for the use of two persons i.e. the Principal and one of his aides.

There are four Copiers in the college but not for the use of the students. Even the office staffs are restricted to use the copiers. As the location of the college is isolated and remote, it is not possible for the students to make photocopy of their study materials as it is required for the students of higher education. “The teachers and the staffs of the college are very unsatisfied with the behaviour of the Principal of the college as he is very rude, apathetic and problematic,” informed a source.
