They are furious at the red tape they have to wade through just to receive basic help 
and in despair they still cannot get on with their lives seven months after the huge quake and tsunami triggered the world's worst nuclear disaster in 25 years. 

   Shouts fill a room at a temporary housing complex where seven officials, kneeling in their dark suits, face 70 or so tenants who were forced to abandon their homes near the Fukushima nuclear plant after some of its reactors went into meltdown after the March 11 quake struck. 

   "We don't know who we can trust!" one man yelled in the cramped room where the officials were trying to explain the hugely complex procedures to claim compensation. 

   "Can we actually go back home? And if not, can you guarantee our livelihoods?"

   About 80,000 people were forced to leave their homes by the nuclear crisis. 

   While the owner of the plant, Tokyo Electric Power Co, has made temporary payments to some victims, it was only last month that it finally began accepting applications for compensation.  

   But the procedure is so complicated that it seems to just make things worse. 

   After claimants have read a 160-page instruction manual, they then have to fill in a 60-page form and attach receipts for lodging, transportation and medical costs. 

   "It's too difficult. I'm going to see how it goes. I don't want to rush and mess up," said Toshiyuki Owada, 65, an evacuee from Namie town, about 20 km (12 miles) away from the plant. 

   Owada is one of many who still has not applied for compensation even though they have lost jobs or businesses and are running out of cash.  

   COMPLEX AND UNFAIR 

   The complexity of the task is one deterrent.  

   There is another -- the perception that Tepco is not playing fair.  

   Confidence in the authorities is low. The government is seen as having bungled its early response to the crisis and being secretive about what was really happening. 

   Tepco is accused of failing to take sufficient safety measures at the Fukushima plant even though it knew the risks and then deliberately underplaying the extent of the accident. 

   It is also seen as insensitive. 

   One clause in the original instruction booklet telling victims they would have to agree to waive their right to challenge the compensation amount in order to receive payment provoked a public uproar. 

   Chastised by the government, the company promised to drop the clause, issued a simplified 4-page instruction booklet and assigned 1,000 employees to Fukushima prefecture to help victims with the process. 

   "There may be times when the content is difficult to understand or in some cases our employee in charge may not grasp it fully, but we would like to explain and respond as carefully as possible," said Tepco spokesman Naoyuki Matsumoto. 

   A government panel overseeing the compensation scheme estimates claims are likely to reach 3.6 trillion yen ($46.5 billion) in the financial year to next March. 

   FEW CLAIMANTS 

   But so far just 7,100 individuals have applied to Tepco for compensation out of the 80,000 it send forms to. 

   And of the 10,000 businesses in the Fukushima area, a mere 300 have submitted claims. 

   The company expects a total of 300,000 claims from businesses given that the impact of the radiation crisis has been so widespread. 

   Victims can sue but that is rare.   

   Junichi Matsumoto, a Tepco official, said the utility faces about 10 lawsuits so far. He declined to disclose details but said some were seeking more than the firm deemed appropriate. 

   Yuichi Kaido, an attorney and the secretary-general of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, said lawsuits are considered a last resort in conservative rural northeast Japan. 

   "In the end, many lawsuits could take place," he said. 

   "But the majority is thinking of first speaking with Tokyo Electric or seeking mediation . " 

   SENSE OF RESIGNATION 

   The final compensation depends on whether and when victims will be able to return to homes within a 20-km evacuation zone. That question remains unanswered, breeding a growing sense of resignation among evacuees.  

   Some said they doubt they will ever be able to go home and suggested their entire towns simply be relocated and many worry about long-term health effects of radiation. 

   An Asahi newspaper poll showed this month that 43 percent of evacuees still want to return, down from 62 percent in June. 

   For many, what is now on the table -- reimbursement for moving and transportation costs associated with evacuating, compensation for damage to health, lost jobs, and psychological suffering -- only deepens frustration over what they have lost. 

   Tokyo Electric said it will pay about 100,000 yen a month for the period to end of August as compensation for psychological trauma. After that, the sum will be halved. 

   "Evidence that we have lived our lives is completely destroyed and for that, we are told that we will be compensated 100,000 yen for our psychological suffering. That's it?" said 75-year-old restaurant owner Sumiko Toyoguchi, who had to leave her home in Namie. 

   "What's at the root of our frustration is that we cannot see what our tomorrow will be like." ($1 = 77.365 Japanese Yen)

CHENNAI PORT: Export container suspended to clear backlog

CHENNAI: Panicked over the open threat made by the port users to shift their export and import cargoes to other ports if the congestion issue was not resolved immediately, the Chennai Port Trust management has decided to suspend receiving export containers at its two terminals for four days from Thursday to facilitate speedy clearance of thousands of imported containers lying on its premises.

The proposed suspension of trade is the second such drastic step to suspend export containers by the Chennai Port in the past 10 months. In February this year, the port management had suspended export of containerised cargo for four days after heavy congestion crippled the functioning of the Chennai Port and traders moved their goods to neighbouring ports.

It may be noted that Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan had directed the ChPT management to take immediate steps to ease congestion after port users threatened to skip the historic port for its callous attitude in solving the issue.

According to exim (export/import) sources, though the suspension would allow the management to clear its thousands of imported containers lying inside the port for over a month, it could adversely affect the export of Christmas and New Year shipments to various European Union destinations.

“Had the port management improved and maintained the condition of its (entry/exit) gates and roads regularly, current situation of forced suspension of trade for four long days could not have developed,” a regular port user told Express.

Instead of introducing trade suspension as a big measure to reduce congestion in the port, the management should focus on improving the condition of its gates and road for uninterrupted cargo evacuation in future, another port user said.

According to port trust sources, about 2,500-3,000 containers could be evacuated every day in the four-day suspension from both the private terminals.

As on Wednesday, both the terminals recorded an inventory of over 19,000 containers and if the evacuation plan goes as planned, it could considerably reduce the congestion at the terminals and leave the inventory at a negligible level.

Loyola to turn into command centre

CHENNAI: The centrally located Loyola College, which has been designated as one among the 18 counting centres for the Chennai Corporation election, would become a virtual ‘Command Centre’ for the District Election Officer D Karthikeyan on October 21.

According to sources, the DEO would have a dedicated room equipped with secured online facility to monitor results for the elections to Mayor as well as for 200 councillors pouring into the command centre from 35 assistant returning officers (AROs).

Besides being a command centre for Mayor results, Loyola College would also host counting of 11 wards (74 to 78 and 109 to 114) in the Corporation.

While the trends and round-wise results would be updated to the DEO via online facilities minute-by-minute, there has been another plan to set up fax machines with seven dedicated lines to cross-verify results (in hard copies) sent by 35 AROs.

Counting of votes has also been planned at Thiyagaraya College, Old Washermenpet, Bharathi Art College, Prakasam Salai, P T Chengalvarayan Polytechnic, Vepery, Pachaiappa’s College, Aminjikarai, Queen Mary’s College, Kamarajar Salai, Meenakshi Engineering College, Virugambakkam, College of Engineering, Sardar Patel Road, Vellaiyan Chettiar School, Thiruvotriyur, Velammal Engineering College, Surapet, Rajarajeshwari Engineering College, Adayalampattu, Asan Memorial College, Pallikaranai and D B Jain College, Thoraipakkam.

மாவீரர் தினம் இன்னும் சில வாரங்களில் நடைபெறவுள்ள நிலையில், வேறு எந்த நாடுகளிலும் இல்லாத குழப்பமான நிலை லண்டனில் நிலவுகிறது. பல ஊடகங்கள் பல கருத்துக்களை முன்வைப்பதும் தமிழ் தேசிய தொலைக்காட்சி என்று தம்மை தாமே விளம்பரப்படுத்தும் தொலைக்காட்சி ஒருபக்கச் சார்பாக நடப்பதும் என பல கதைகளையும் செய்திகளையும் அறிவித்தல்களையும் கேட்டு மக்கள் முன்னெப்போதும் இல்லாதவாறு குழம்பியிருக்கிறார்கள் என்பது தான் உண்மை நிலை. மாவீரர் தினம் 2 இடங்களில் நடக்கிறதா ? இல்லை ஒரே இடம்தான என்ற தெளிவு மக்களுக்கு இல்லை. அதனைச் சொல்ல எந்த ஊடகமும் தயாரும் இல்லை. போதாக்குறைக்கு GTV ஒருபக்கச்சார்பான நிலையிலும் உள்ளதால் நாம் இதனை எழுதவேண்டிய நிலையில் உள்ளோம்.

ஒரு கசப்பான உண்மை என்னவென்றால் இம் முறை 2 இடங்களில் மாவீரர் தினம் நடக்கவிருப்பதுதான். 

"2 இடங்களில் மாவீரர் தினம் நடந்தால் நான் போகமாட்டேன்" "ஒற்றுமையாக எல்லாம் நடக்கவேண்டும்" "ஏன் இவர்கள் இவ்வாறு பிரிந்து நின்று அடிபடுகிறார்கள்" "சிங்களவன் நினைத்ததை நாம் இப்ப செய்யிறோம்" என்று எல்லாம் மக்கள் தமக்குத் தாமே பேசிக்கொள்கிறார்களே தவிர ஏன் இப்படி நடக்கிறது ? என்ன தான் நடக்கிறது என்ற அறிவு மக்களுக்கு போதுமானதாகக் கிடைக்கவில்லை. ஒருபக்கச் செய்தியைக் கேட்டு சிலரும் மறுபக்கச் செய்தியைக் கேட்டுச் சிலருமாக மக்கள், அமைப்புகள், சில அரசியல்வாதிகளும் கூட தற்போது பிளவு பட்டு நிற்பது எமது இனத்திற்கான சாபக்கேடு. நடப்பதை ஒரு நடு நிலையாக பக்கச்சார்பில்லாமல் நாங்கள் மக்களுக்கு தெரிவிக்க விரும்புகிறோம். இது குறித்து மக்கள் முடிவெடுப்பது நல்லது. மக்களுக்கான தகவலை நாம் வழங்கவேண்டும். அதன் பின்னர் மக்கள் முடிவெடுக்கவேண்டும் என்பதே எமது நோக்கமாகும்.

முடிந்தவரை இதனை ஒரு நடு நிலையாக ஆராய்ந்து எழுதி உள்ளோம். அதிருப்த்தி அல்லது விமர்சனங்கள் இருந்தால் எம்மைத் தொடர்புகொள்ளலாம் !

லண்டனில் 2 குழுக்கள்: 

விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் கட்டமைப்புகளில் பல பிரிவுகள் இயங்கிவருவது யாவரும் அறிந்ததே. அதில் "அனைத்துலகத் தொடர்பகம்" மற்றும் "தலைமைச் செயலகம்" என 2 கட்டமைப்புகள் இருக்கிறது. வெளிநாடுகளில் நடைபெறும் வேலைத் திட்டங்களை நெறிப்படுத்த தேசிய தலைவரால் அமைக்கப்பட்ட கட்டமைப்பு அனைத்துலகத் தொடர்பகம் ஆகும். அதேபோல விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் அதி உயர்மட்ட பீடமாக விளங்கும் மற்றுமொரு கட்டமைப்பு தலைமைச் செயலகமாகும். தலைமைச் செயலகம் என்றால் அதன் அர்த்தம் மக்களுக்கு புரிந்திருக்கும். தலைமைச் செயலகம் ஆனது ஒரு கட்டத்தில் ஐரோப்பாவில் இருந்து செயல்பட்டபோதிலும் பின்னர் அது ஈழத்திற்கு 1998ம் ஆண்டு நகர்த்தப்பட்டது. முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் வரை அது ஈழத்தில் இருந்து தான் செயல்பட்டது. அதனை முள்ளிவாய்க்காலுக்குப் பின்னர் வெளிநாட்டிற்கு நகர்த்த யார் யாருக்கு உரிமைகொடுத்தது என்பது இதுவரை தெரியவில்லை. தலைமைச் செயலகத்தை புலம்பெயர் தேசத்திற்கு நகர்த்தியதை ஈழத்தில் இன்னமும் மெளனமாக இருக்கும் போராளிகள் உறுதிசெய்ய வில்லை என்ற கருத்துகளும் சிலரால் முன்வைக்கப்படுகிறது. 

பச்சையாகச் சொல்லப்போனால் இவர்களுக்கிடையே தற்போது நடக்கும் முறுகல் நிலையே மாவீரர் தினப் பிரச்சனையாகும். இவை ஒரு கசப்பான உண்மையாகும். இதனை எவராலும் மறுக்க முடியாது.

அனைத்துலகத் தொடர்பகம் மற்றும் தமிழர் ஒருங்கிணைப்புக் குழு:

கடந்த 21 வருடமாக் அதாவது 1990ம் ஆண்டு முதல் லண்டனில் மாவீரர் தினம் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. அதனை "தனம்" மற்றும் "சாந்தன்" ஆகியோரும் மற்றும் சிலரும் நெறிப்படுத்தி வந்தனர். அவர்கள் அதனை தேசிய தலைமையின் கீள் நடத்தி வந்தனர். அவர்களின் ஒரு பிரிவு "கிளை" மற்றும் தமிழர் ஒருங்கிணைப்பு குழுவாகும் (TCC )பிற்காலத்தில் சாந்தன் என்பவர் இளைப்பாறவே தனம் மற்றும் "கமல்" ஆகியோர் அதனை நெறிப்படுத்தி நடத்திவந்தனர். மாவீரர் தினம் பல ஆண்டுகளா நடைபெற்றுவரும் நிலையில் பல தடவைகள் லண்டனில் சிறப்பாக மாவீரர் தினத்தை நடத்தியதற்காக தேசிய தலைவர் தம் கைப்பட கடிதம் எழுதி அதனை கடந்த கால நடத்துணர்களுக்கு(தனம்) அனுப்பி வைத்துள்ளார் என்பதனையும் நாம் மறைக்க முடியாது. 2009ம் ஆண்டு மே மாதம் வரை சுமூகமாக நடைபெற்ற மாவீரர் தினம் தற்போதுதான் பெருங் குழப்பங்களை சந்தித்துள்ளது.

தலைமைச் செயலகம்: அல்லது சங்கீதன் குழு யார் ?:

2009ம் ஆண்டிற்குப் பின்னர் புலிகளை இலங்கை இராணுவம் ஆயுதப்போராட்ட ரீதியாகத் தோற்கடித்த பின்னர் புலிகள் தமது தலைமைச் செயலகத்தை வெளிநாடுகளில் பலப்படுத்த ஆரம்பித்தனர். தலைமைச் செயலகத்தால் பல அறிவித்தல்கள் விடப்பட்டது. குறிப்பாக தேசிய தலைவரின் தாயார் இறந்த சயமத்தில் "தேசத்தின் அன்னை" என மதிப்பளித்து அவரை கெளவரப்படுத்தியதும் தலைமைச் செயலகமே. புலிகளின் இரண்டாம் நிலைத் தலைவர் வரிசையில் இருக்கும் திரு.பொட்டு அம்மான் அவர்களின் கீழ் பணியாற்றியதாக சங்கீதன் அவர்கள் சொல்கிறார். அவர் தற்போது லண்டனில் உள்ளார். அவர் தலைமைச் செயலகத்தோடு இணைந்து தாமே மாவீரர் நாளை நடத்துவோம் எனச் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார். இதன் வெளிப்பாடே இப் பிரச்சனையாகும். இவர்களால் தான் லண்டனில் உள்ள எக்ஸ்-எல் மண்டபம் பதிவுசெய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இது தான் தற்போதைய நிலை. இந்த 2 குழுப் பிரச்சனையை பேசித் தீர்த்திருக்க முடியும். ஆனால் லண்டனில் இயங்கிவரும் சில அமைப்புகளின் முக்கிய புள்ளிகள்(இலங்கை அரசின் ஏஜன்டுகள் ?) இந்த இரண்டு குழுக்களுக்குள் ஊடுருவி இப் பிரச்சனையை பூதாகரமாக்கி இலங்கை இந்திய அரசின் திட்டங்களை நிறைவேற்றப் பார்க்கின்றனர் என்பது ஒரு உண்மை. சில அமைப்புகளில் இருக்கும் சில முக்கிய நபர்கள் தம்மை தனம் மற்றும் கமல் போன்றோர் மதிக்கவில்லை என்று சங்கீதன் பக்கம் செல்வதும், அதேபோல சிலர் சங்கீதன் பக்கம் இருந்து தனம் பக்கம் சேர்ந்து இப் பிரச்சனையை மேலும் சிக்கலுக்கு உள்ளாக்கியுள்ளனர் என்ற கருத்தும் உள்ளது. போதாக்குறைக்கு எரியும் நெருப்பில் எண்ணெய் வார்ப்பதுபோல GTV தனது பணிகளை முடிக்கிவிட்டுள்ளது. இதில் IBC வானொலியின் பங்கும் அடங்கும். நிகழ்ச்சிகள் எதுவும் நடத்த கையிருப்பில் எதுவும் இல்லாத நிலையில் IBC வானொலியானது தற்போது பரபரப்புத் தேடி அலைகிறது. கடந்த காலங்களில் நாடு கடந்த அரசு பிளவுபட்ட நேரத்தில் அதனை ஒற்றுமைப்படுத்த ஊடகவியலாளர்கள் முனைந்தவேளை அதனை ஊதிப் பெரிசாக்கி பல சர்ச்சைகளைத் தோற்றுவித்ததும் இதே IBC தான். தற்போது ஏற்பட்டுள்ள மாவீரர் தினப் பிரச்சனையையும் ஊதிப் பெரிசாக்கி மக்கள் மத்தியில் குழப்பத்தை ஏற்படுத்திவருவதும் இதே வானொலிதான்.

GTF- BTF - TGTE போன்ற அமைப்புகளின் நிலைப்பாடு தான் என்ன ?

2009ம் ஆண்டு ஈழத்தில் போர் உச்சக்கட்டத்தை அடைந்தபோது லண்டனில் மாபெரும் மக்கள் எழுச்சி வெடித்தது. சரியான நாள் தெரியவில்லை... ஆனால் ஒரு நாள் நடைபெற்ற போராட்டத்தில் மட்டும் சுமார் 2லட்சம் தமிழ் மக்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர் என லண்டன் பொலிசார் முன்னர் ஒருமுறை தெரிவித்திருந்தனர். அந்த நேரத்தில் மக்கள் கட்டமைப்பாக அரசியல் பணிகளை திறம்படச் செய்தது BTF ஆகும். மக்களை ஒன்றிணைத்து போராட்டத்தின் திறனை சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்தி பல எம்.பிக்களை தமிழர்களுக்கு ஆதரவாகத் திரட்டியதும் BTF ஆகும். ஆனால் அதில் முன்நிலை வகிக்கும் சிலர் தற்போது தனியான ஓட்டம் ஒன்றை ஆரம்பித்துள்ளனர். இதில் பெரும் குழப்பவாதிகளாக மக்களால் பார்க்கப்படுபவர்களில் ஸ்கந்தாவும் சுகந்தகுமாரும் அடங்குகிறார்கள். இவர்கள் இருவரும் வெளிப்படையாகவே தலைமைச் செயலகத்துக்கும் சங்கீதனுக்கும் தமது ஆதரவைத் தெரிவித்துவருகின்றனர். இவர்களே அடிக்கடி GTV யில் தோன்றி எக்ஸ்-எல் மண்டபத்தில் மாவீரர் தினம் நடப்பதாகக் கூறிவருகின்றனர்.

இதில் வேதனைக்குரிய விடையம் என்னவென்றால் தனம் மற்றும் கமல் போன்றவர்களால் ஸ்கந்தா எனப்படும் நபர் கடந்தகாலத்தில் முன் நிலைப்படுத்தப்பட்டார். ஸ்கந்தா அந்த வேலையைப் பாருங்கள் இந்தவேலையைப் பாருங்கள் என அவருக்கு வேலைகள் வழங்கப்பட அவர் ஒரு முக்கியஸ்தர் ஆனார். ஆனால் அவர் தற்போது பிரிந்துசென்று சங்கீதன் குழு பக்கமாகச் செயல்படுகிறார். 

TGTE அல்லது நாடு கடந்த அரசாங்கத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டால் அதன் பெரும்பாலான உறுப்பினர்கள் சங்கீதன் குழுவிற்குப் பின்னால் திரைமறைவில் இருந்து செயல்படுவது தெரிகிறது. நாடு கடந்த அரசின் அமைச்சர் திரு தணிக்காச்சலம் தயாபரன் அவர்கள் GTVயில் தோன்றி உரையாற்றும்போது நேரடியாகவே சங்கீதன் நடத்தும் மாவீரர் தின மண்டபமான எக்ஸ்-எலுக்கு அனைவரையும் வருமாறு கூறிச் சென்றார். அதாவது மக்களுக்கு ஒரு விடையம் நன்றாகப் புரியவேண்டும். இம் முறை மாவீரர் தினத்தை அனைத்துலகத் தொடர்பகத்தின் தமிழர் ஒருங்கிணைப்புக் குழு பிரித்தானியாவில் தனியாக நடத்துகின்றது என்பது உண்மையாகும். இதனை மறுக்கவோ இல்லை மறைக்கவோ முடியாது.

இது இவ்வாறு இருக்க GTF இன் நிலைப்பாடு இன்னும் சரியாகத் தெரியவில்லை. அவர்கள் அதனை விளக்க தயாரும் இல்லை. அவர்கள் சர்வதேச அரசியல் களத்தில் நிற்பதால் பிரித்தானியா உள்விவகாரங்கள் குறித்து கருத்து கூறவில்லை. உங்கள் நிலைப்பாட்டை தெளிவுபடுத்துங்கள் என்று அதிர்வு இணையம் கேட்டபோது அவர்கள் அக்கேள்வியில் இருந்து நழுவிக்கொண்டார்கள் என்பதனையும் இங்கே தெரிவிக்கவேண்டும்.

மாவீரர் தினத்தில் காசு கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்டதா ?

பச்சையாகச் சொல்லப்போனால் தலைமைச் செயலகம் அல்லது சங்கீதன் குழுவினர் மக்கள் முன் வைக்கும் விவாதம் என்ன வென்றால் கடந்தகாலங்களில் நடந்த மாவீரர் தினத்தில் பெருமளவு நிதி கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்டது என்பது தான். இல்லை அதனை சற்று நாகரீகமாகச் சொன்னால் காசுக் கணக்கு காட்டப்படவில்லை என்பதுதான். இவர்கள் சுமத்தும் குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் பற்றி நாம் கமல் மற்றும் தனத்திடம் தொடர்புகொண்டு கேட்டோம். அதற்கு அவர்கள் கூறிய பதில் பின்வருமாறு அமைந்தது: 

"இந் நாட்டில் புலிகள் இயக்கம் தடைசெய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. எனவே மாவீரர் தினம் என்று நடத்த முடியாது. அதனால் அதனை தேசிய நினைவெளுச்சி நாள் என நாம் நடத்திவருகிறோம். அதற்கான எல்லாக் கணக்குகளும் எம்மிடம் உள்ளது. அதனை நாம் வெளிப்படையாக வெளியிட முடியாது. காரணம் சட்டச்சிக்கல்கள் இருக்கிறது. எவராவது பங்களிப்புச் செய்திருந்தால் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட நபர் கேட்டால் நாம் அந்தக் கணக்கை காட்டுவோம். இதனை விடுத்து எம் மீது வீண் பழிபோடவேண்டாம்" என்றார்கள் அவர்கள்.

ஒவ்வொரு மாவீரர் தினத்துக்கும் சுமார் 50,000பேர் வருவதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது. குறிப்பாக 45,000பேர் வந்தாலும் தமிழ் இணையங்கள் 50,000பேர் வந்தார்கள் இல்லை 55,000பேர் வந்தார்கள் என்று தான் எழுதுவது வழக்கம். சிங்கள தேசத்திற்கு எமது ஒற்றுமையையும் எமது பலத்தையும் காட்ட அவர்கள் அவ்வாறு எழுதுவார்கள் அது ஒரு பெரியவிடையம் அல்ல. ஆனால் அதனை வைத்துக்கொண்டு 50,000 பேர் �5 பவுனுக்கு பூ வாங்கினால் எவ்வளவு காசு வரும் என்று கணக்கு பார்க்க முடியுமா ? அது ஒரு பெருங் கேள்வியாக உள்ளது. சரி ஒரு விவாதத்திற்கு எடுத்துக்கொள்வோம் : 2009ம் ஆண்டு மே மாதம் ஒரு போராட்டத்துக்கு சுமார் 2 லட்சம் தமிழர்கள் பிரித்தானிய பாரளுமன்றம் முன்பாகக் கூடினார்கள். அன்றைய தினம் 90 சதவீதமான மக்கள் தொடரூந்து(ரெயின்) மூலம் வந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் குறைந்தது 5 பவுன்கள் அல்லது 8 பவுன்களைச் செலவளித்தார்கள். அப்படி என்றால் 2 லட்ச்சத்தை 5 பவுன்களால் பெருக்கினால் எவ்வளவு பணம் தேறும் ? அதனை நாம் ஏன் பிரித்தானிய அரசுக்கு கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று யாராவது நினைத்தது உண்டா ?

2009ம் ஆண்டும் மே மாதத்தில் பிரித்தானிய அரசின் தொடரூந்து சேவைக்கு சிலவேளைகளில் ஒரு நாளைக்கு 1 மில்லியன் வருமானம் இருந்திருக்கும். இதனைப் பற்றி எவரும் கவலைப்படுவது இல்லை. ஆனால் மாவீரர் தினத்தில் சேரும் காசைப்பற்றி தான் பலரும் பேசுகிறார்கள். இதுவரை அதற்கான சரியான காசுக்கணக்கை காட்டாதது கமல் மற்றும் தனத்தின் பிழையாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் 2009ம் ஆண்டு வரை தாம் கணக்கை ஊரில் உள்ள புலிகளின் தலைமைக்கு காட்டி வந்ததாக அவர்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். இம்முறை தாம் கணக்கை வெளிப்படையாகவே காட்ட தயார் எனவும் அவர்கள் மேலும் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். 

அதாவது கடந்த 21 வருடமாக மாவீரர் தினத்தை நடத்திவரும் குழுவுக்கும் மற்றும் சங்கீதன் என்னும் தலைமைச் செயலகக் குழுவுக்கும் இடையே நடைபெறும் இழுபறி நிலையின் வெளிப்பாடே இந்த 2 மாவீரர் தின நிகழ்வுகளாகும் என்பதனை நீங்கள் இப்போது அறிவீர்கள். மக்கள் இது குறித்து பெரிதாக அலட்டிக்கொள்ளத் தேவையில்லை என நாம் நினைக்கிறோம். "2 இடத்தில் நடந்தால் நாம் போகமாட்டோம்", "இல்லை ஒற்றுமையாக நடக்கவேண்டும் இல்லையேல் போகமாட்டோம்" என்று மக்கள் பேசுவது பொருத்தமாகாது. லண்டனில் மாவீரர் தினத்தை சிதைப்பது என்பது சிறிலங்கா அரசின் நீண்ட நாள் கனவு. இதனை நாமே நிறைவேற்றிக்காட்டக்கூடாது. எனவே முன் எப்போதும் இல்லாதவாறு இம் முறை மக்கள் அதிக அளவில் அணிதிரளவேண்டும். குழப்பத்துக்கு மத்தியிலும் எமது மக்கள் மாவீரர்களை நினைவுகொள்ள ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் திரண்டார்கள் என சர்வதேசத்திற்கும் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கும் செய்திகள் செல்லவேண்டும். இலங்கை அரசு ஆடிப்போகவேண்டும். இதனையே ஒரு உண்மையான தமிழன் எண்ணுவான்.

எமக்கு பொது எதிரி சிறிலங்கா அரசே தவிர வேறு ஒருவரும் இல்லை. இன்று நாம் அடித்துக்கொள்வோம் நாளை ஒற்றுமையாகுவோம். ஆனால் சிங்களவனை நாம் விடமாட்டோம் என்ற மனப்பாங்கு தமிழர்கள் மத்தியில் வளரவேண்டும். யார் யார் எந்த வேலைகளைச் செய்யவேண்டும் என புலிகளின் தலைமை முன்னர் பிரித்துக்கொடுத்திருந்தது. ஆனால் அவை மே18ம் திகதியோடு கலைந்துவிட்டது. தற்போது யாரும் எதனையும் செய்யலாம் என்ற நிலை தோன்றியுள்ளது.

GTV இன் பக்கச்சார்பு நிலை:

GTV இன் உரிமையாளர் செல்வின் அவர்கள் அவுஸ்திரேலியாவில் வசித்துவரும் ஒரு செல்வந்தர் ஆவர். அவர் தற்போது அவுஸ்திரேலியாவுக்கான நாடு கடந்த அரசின் உறுப்பினராகவும் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். நாடு கடந்த அரசானது தற்போது தலைமைச் செயலகம் அல்லது சங்கீதன் குழுவுக்கு ஆதரவாக இருப்பதால் GTV தற்போது ஒரு பக்கச்சார்பான நிலையை எடுத்துவருகிறது. அதாவது இவ்வளவு காலமும் மாவீரர் தினத்தை நடத்திய குழுவின் நீதி நியாயங்களுக்கு செவிகொடுக்காமல் சங்கீதன் மற்றும் நாடு கடந்த அரசின் குழுக்கள் இணைந்து நடத்தும் மாவீரர் தினத்தின் விளம்பரங்களையும் அதுதொடர்பாக அக் குழுவில் இருக்கும் அங்கத்தவர்களையும் பேட்டி கண்டும் போட்டு வருகிறது. GTV இன் இந்த நிலைப்பாடு ஊடக தர்மத்தை அப்பட்டமாக மீறும் ஒரு செயலாக அமைந்துள்ளது. நாம் வெளிப்படையாகவே ஒரு சவாலை விடுக்க விரும்புகிறோம். மாவீரர் தினத்தை இவ்வளவு காலமாக நடத்திய நபர்களை ஏன் இவர்கள் அழைத்துப் பேசவில்லை ? அப்படி அழைத்து ஒரு நேர்காணலைக் காண இவர்களுக்கு முதுகெலும்பு உள்ளதா ? துணிவுகெட்ட இவர்கள் ஒருபக்கச்சார்பாக நடப்பதை முதலில் நிறுத்தவேண்டும். 

இதுபோன்ற ஊடகங்களே பொதுமக்களிடையே மேலும் குழப்பங்களை ஏற்படுத்திவருன்றது. தமது சொந்த நலனுக்காவும் தேவைகளுக்காகவும் ஒரு ஊடகத்தையே இவர்கள் தவறான பாதையில் இட்டுச்செல்கிறார்கள். குறிப்பாக IBCதமிழ் வானொலியும் ஒரு பக்கச் சார்பான நிகழ்ச்சிகளை நடத்திவருகிறது. ஊடக தர்மங்களை மீறி இவர்கள் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட குழுவுக்கு தமது ஆரவை நல்கிவருகின்றனர். இதனை விடுத்து உண்மை நிலையைக் கண்டறிய முயற்சிக்க வேண்டும். கண்ணால் காண்பதும் பொய்(TV) காதால் கேட்பதும் பொய்(RADIO) ! தீர விசாரித்து அறிவதே மெய் என்பார்கள் ! எனவே தமிழ் மக்கள் இந்த மாயைக்குள் இருந்து விடுபடவேண்டும். 

பல ஆண்டுகளாக லண்டனில் மாவீரர் தினத்தை நடத்திவரும் கமல் மற்றும் தனம் போன்றவர்களுக்கு அனுபவமும் வெளிநாடுகளில் எப்படி செயல்படுவது என்பது போன்ற விடையங்கள் நன்கு தெரிந்திருக்கும். அவர்களிடம் மாவீரர் துயிலும் இல்ல "கட்டவுட்" செய்யும் நபர்கள் தொடக்கம் சமையல் கூடம் வரை செயல்பட அதற்கான ஆட்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள். அதற்கு என ஒரு கட்டமைப்பு பலகாலமாக இருக்கிறது. காசு தான் பிரச்சனை என்றால் அதனை பிறிதொருவர் கையாளலாம் என்று அறிவுரை கூறுகின்றனர் சிலர். தேசிய தலைமையால் அடையாளம் காட்டப்படாத போராளிகள் திடீரென வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு வந்து அதனை தாம் தான் நடத்தப்போகிறோம் என்றால் எவ்வாறு அதனை அவர்கள் கைகளில் கொடுக்கமுடியும் ? அதனை நடத்திப் பழக்கமில்லாத அவர்கள் அதனைச் சிதைத்தால் என்னவாகும் என அச்சம் வெளியிடுகின்றனர் மேலும் சிலர். 

இதேவேளை 1990ம் ஆண்டு முதல் 2009ம் ஆண்டு வரை தமிழீழ தேசிய தலைமை� செயல்பாட்டாளர்களான தனத்தையோ இல்லை கமலையோ நிதி சம்பந்தமான எந்த ஒரு விசராணக்கும் அவர்களை உட்படுத்தவில்லை என்பதனை மக்களாகிய நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள். தேசிய தலைமை மெளனிக்கும் வரை அவர்கள் தனம் மற்றும் கமல் போன்றவர்களை நம்பினார்கள். அவர்கள் மெளனிக்க அதனை ஒரு சாட்டாக வைத்து தற்போது அவர்கள் பேசமாட்டார்கள் என்ற துணிவில் பலர் பல கட்டுக்கதைகளை வெளிவிடுகின்றனர். 

எனவே மக்களாகிய நீங்கள் முடிவெடுங்கள் எங்கு செல்வது என்று ? ஆனால் மாவீரர் தினத்தை புறக்கணிக்க மட்டும் நினைக்கவேண்டாம். அது ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழினத்தை பாதிக்கும். தாயகக் கனவோடு தம் உயிர்களை நீத்த போராளிகளை அவமதிக்கும் செயலாக அமைந்துவிடும். ஒரு கணம் அவர்களை நினைத்துப் பாருங்கள். வரிப்புலி சீருடை அணிந்து மிடுக்காக நடமாடிய எம்மின இளைஞர்களைப் பிடித்து ஆடைகளை உருவி அம்மணமாக்கி, கைகளைக் கட்டி கண்களையும் கட்டி ஒரு நாயை உதைவதுபோல உதைத்து பின்னர் பிரடியில் சுட்டு கொலைசெய்தான் இலங்கை இராணுவச் சிப்பாய். இதனை மறக்கச் சொல்கிறீர்களா ? இல்லை இசைப்பிரியா போன்ற பெண்களின் மார்பகங்களை அறுத்து கொலைசெய்தார்களே அதனை மறக்கச்சொல்கிறீர்களா ? எல்லாம் மாவீரர்களின் கனவுகளை நனவாக்க லணடன் மக்கள் நவம்பர் 27 அணிதிரள்வோம் !

CHENNAI: Making a strong pitch for their political recognition in the comparatively conservative metropolis, a city-based transgender has thrown her hat in the local body polls, contesting for the Councillor post in Ward 104 – Purasaiwalkam.

Jothivel Samy Amma (55), founder of Chennai Aravanigal Munnetra Maruvazhvu Trust, is contesting as an independent. “My entry into politics is a move to pitch for a political recognition to transgender community,” she told Express.

Besides working for the uplift of transgenders via her trust, Jothivel is also involved in social service activities like organising decent burial to unclaimed bodies collected from Government Hospitals.

“Since 2001, we have given decent burial to about 1600 unclaimed bodies and it was an act to show our social commitment towards society,” she added. Jothivel, who is in the fray with table lamp symbol, has a vision to develop the newly carved out Ward-104, after merging parts of three different wards in Purasaiwalkam.

“If elected, my immediate priority would be the corrective steps to eradicate rainwater stagnation and mosquito menace in Purasai locality,” she said.

Burmese government to release 6,359 prisoners on Wednesday

New Delhi (Mizzima) – A total of 6,359 prisoners now being held across Burma will be released under a presidential amnesty on Wednesday, state-run television announced on Tuesday.

The government, which has never acknowledged that it has “political prisoners,” did not disclose how many political prisoners would be released under the amnesty.

According to the presidential amnesty, the prisoners include the elderly, prisoners in ill health, and prisoners who are handicapped. 

Reports said that a number of high-profile political prisoners are expected to be released including the comedian Zarganar; General Say Htin, 75, a patron of the Shan State Army-North who is currently serving a 106-year term in Sittwe prison; and Htay Kywe, an 88 Generation Student leader.‬   

The amnesty will be granted under section 204 (b) of the Constitution, which states: “The President has the power to grant amnesty in accord with the recommendation of the National Defence and Security Council.”

CHENNAI: With 32 candidates vying for the prestigious seat of Mayor in Chennai Corporation, this civic election is going to be a tightly-fought contest between the candidates representing all main political parties in Tamil Nadu.

When the direct election was held for the Mayor in 1996, there were only eight contestants and the DMK’s youth wing leader M K Stalin won the race by a margin of over four lakh votes over the Janata Party’s nominee V S Chandralekha. With Stalin’s tenure as Mayor brought to the light the post’s political importance, the 2001 direct election saw a surge in number of contestants.

While 20 candidates tried their luck in 2001, Stalin once again emerged victorious by defeating his nearest rival N Balaganga of the AIADMK.

With the AIADMK government deciding to introduce the direct election system (after a 10-year break) for Mayor posts, 32 candidates are now in the fray.

Of the 32 wannabe Mayors, six contestants from the main political parties in the state are Saidai S Duraisamy (AIADMK), M Subramanian (DMK), A K Moorthy (PMK), Saidai P Ravi (Congress), G Velmurugan (DMDK) and N Manoharan (MDMK). Besides them, contestants like IIM graduate Sarathbabu and R Mohanraj, who is known for contesting in every election, are the known faces among independent candidates.

BJP is the only big party which is not in race as its candidate’s nomination papers were rejected during scrutiny due to discrepancies.

Besides, the civic body election for Chennai Corporation this month is going to be a herculean task for the State Election Commission as the city has expanded from 174 sqkm to 426 sqkm and number of wards have been increased from 155 to 200, comprising over 44 lakh voters.
